denise & benjo's engagement session - lake merritt - middle harbor shoreline park - oakland, california

commentator: ed

denise & benjo are high school sweethearts in the east bay is where they grew up and fell in love. when we met up with them during our consultation meeting, the topic of elementary schools came up and whadayaknow, denise and monica (my wife) discovered they were kindergarten classmates. go giraffes! =)

although the weather was a little dicey that day, we enjoyed some awesome weather with this adorable twosome. we met up in front of children's fairlyland in lake merritt before heading out to middle harbor shoreline park in oakland. the drive between the spots, we experienced some rain but at each location, the sky was phenomenol. storm clouds are the best!

congratulations on your engagement, denise & benjo! can't wait for your wedding in august!

special thanks to steve, brian and stephanie for coming out to assist!

claudia & tom's engagement session - sign hill - oyster point - south san francisco, california

commentator: ed

claudia & tom are really in very good shape. i can attest to this while we were hiking up sign hill in south san francisco where i was literally out of breath. they both trekked up that hill like it was nothing. man, i need to get in shape. since they both grew up in south city, it was fitting for them to hold their engagement session here. sign hill is famous for having huge letters (much like the hollywood sign) that read "south san francisco: the industrial city." many bay area locals should know what i'm talking about.

our second location, oyster point, is near the memorable spot of their first date, where it all began. and now, this beautiful couple are new homeowners and newly engaged, set to plan the rest of their lives together...

congrats on your engagement, claudia & tom! thanks for reminding me the need to work out! =)

jennie & ryan's engagement session - murrieta's well - livermore, california

commentator: ed

for jennie and ryan's e-session, we went to murrieta's well where we were given free reign everywhere and anywhere in and around the winery - talk about AWESOME!!! this couple totally rocked their e-session by simply just letting go and being themselves during the shoot. we shot, we laughed and simply just had a great time. another plus was "bunny" who's nickname was given by me totally by accident because i'm an idiot. =) she was there to be our personal make-up artist keeping my couple looking HAWT throughout the session. =) larry and jon came out to help assist the pingol clan. thanks guys!!!

gina & jorge's engagement session - beach chalet - san francisco, california

gina and jorge met up with us at the beach chalet which proved to be a very awesome place to start shooting. why? because you have a private place behind the restaurant where no one really bothers you, not to mention a tunnel. woo hoo!!! this made this gorgeous couple warm up in front of the camera very quickly which made for some AWESOME photos! =) plus it toally didn't hurt that these 2 are just simply a hoot to work with. very fun and energetic... jorge is a crack-up. seriously, this guy is funny. right across the street, we have ocean beach. what more can you ask for? i love it when locations for an engagement session are right next to each other.

congratulations on your engagement, gina & jorge! looking forward to your big day this august!

traci & matt's engagement session - castello di amorosa - chateau montelena - napa valley, california

i have a new favorite spot in napa. it's called chateau montelena. this place has everything you'll ever need for an engagement session plus more. (it's also the winery which is said to have put napa on the map, having won a famous european wine contest with their chardonnay to the surprise of the parisians.) then to put icing on the cake, we also shot at the famous castello di amorosa, which matt installed the main elevator for. it also holds a special place in both of their hearts since this is the place he proposed to her. this session totally ROCKED because the beautiful couple totally gave us creative freedom which made for an awesome time and awesome photos. =)

congratulations on your engagement, traci & matt! thanks so much for introducing us to this gorgeous winery.

catherine & stenly's wedding - peoples church - copper river country club - fresno, california

commentator: ed

to start off the new wedding season, i had the opportunity to be the assistant photographer to my good friend and awesome seattle-based photographer, erwin wijanto. you may remember catherine & stenly from the engagement session i helped erwin photograph last year in san francisco. (the two are so adorable, they sent me a personalized door hanger for my home office that reads "editing in progress" after their e-session. i use it a lot!)

despite the rain that had been showering the west coast all week, their wedding day ending up having beautiful, clear weather. they were wed at peoples church in fresno and held their reception at the copper river country club, which has gorgeous spanish-style architecture.

thanks so much for allowing me to shoot with you, erwin. as always, it's a blast to work with you! and congratulations on your marriage, cat & sten!
